Maintenance Depot Bülach

Competition entry for the construction of a new cantonal maintenance depot with laboratory area in Bülach, 2016

The site 'Im Hof' is located on the outskirts of Bülach and delimited by the railway, motorway and Badenerstrasse. With the new building of the maintenance depot and laboratories, the area can now be seen functionally and aesthetically as a whole. A multifunctional central axis with trees, service station and temporary parking spaces serves all users of the site and guarantees the independent operation of the maintenance depot and the existing cantonal police.

By arranging the new building parallel to the common access axis, the archaeological zone in the southwest can effectively be kept free. Both an extension of the maintenance depot as well as further future uses remain possible here. The maintenance depot, the cantonal police and any other new buildings complement each other to form a coherent development pattern and thus - similar to the industrial estate of Höri in the west or the military base of Bülach in the south - naturally fit into the heterogeneous structure of the surrounding area as an independent unit.
